When I first started watching Waste Land, my initial thoughts were
confusing. I was questioning who this movie was going to form into what it did.
I simply asked myself, “What are they doing there?” and “How are they going to
find hope in these people?” Unfortunately, I am not exposed to these types of
living conditions so it was hard for me to see the “light,” I guess you could
say.
However, throughout the movie my
thoughts gradually changed. I was witnessing this man, Vik Muniz, who had grown
up in these conditions and turned his life into something wonderful and worth
living for. Then, my questions got turned around into, “Wow, what is going to
do?” I was instantly intrigued with Muniz’s project. I start to get to know and
understand just a few of the individuals evolved in this lifestyle. I got to
see how Munix turned these peoples’ lives around and created a piece of art for
each of them…their life began to have meaning to them. I drew a greater
appreciation for the things I have, as well as the people “behind the scenes.”
This movie
showed a great message of being universal. I believe that every type of
audience can gain something from this experience. Although there may be may
different opinions, the message will remain the same to everyone. It gives people
a change to understand that they too can make a change and difference in their
own life, as well as others.
I agree that every type of audience can gain SOMETHING from the experience. No matter what, everyone who watches and reads about the experience can take something with them and have a better outlook and appreciation for what they have.
ReplyDeleteI agree to, that you can do something to help change a person's life. Whether it be small or big.
ReplyDeleteI agree totally. It shows that even in situations that may seem bad a person can find some good deep within it.
