Chris’s PowerPoint
was over mental stimulation and preventing memory loss. I thought he did a very
good job at presenting his findings. I thought his experiment was really
clever, I would have never thought of doing crossword puzzles. I like that he
made the point that prevention isn’t just a decision that needs to be made by
older adults, but younger ones too. You need to set goals to follow your needs;
shy away from choices that are too easy or too ambitious. In addition, I like
that Chris hit on social interaction and personal lifestyle choices because
this is an important aspect to future mental health. It was a good idea to end
the presentation by stating that you need to be conscious of your mental health
and educate yourself. This is a problem many people have, not knowing, so
hopefully people will become aware of this problem and understand ways to
prevent it.

Presentations- Day 2
Zack- I enjoyed
learning about childhood obesity. Zack made good use of his statistical
research through PowerPoint, graphs and video clips. One thing I found
interesting was that childhood obesity has more than tripled throughout the
years, that is a shocking statistic. Another point that was made clear was that
there is a lack of quality physical education classes in many schools. This
most definitely contributes to Zack’s argument.

Presentations- Day 1
Kate- I thought
her website was really good. I could tell that she spent a lot of time on it
because it was very well organized. I really liked the format of the homepage
because it was easy to understand get around the website. She did a good job at
presenting her information in a way that wasn’t too overwhelming.
Erin- The prezi
presentation that she gave was good. She made good use of pictures, as well as presenting
her findings from her research. I liked how she reiterated that there are
challenges to new habits, especially one that involves weight loss and diet.

Multimodal Idea
When thinking about
ideas for my multimodal project, I thought about how I want to make my
presentation interesting and capture my audience. I have thought about using
Prezi for part of my presentation, but I’m not sure how I feel about it yet
because most people mentioned that it made them “motion sick” when they saw it.
So, I was thinking that I could just slow it down a bit or even use it
minimally. Thoughts? Or, I was considering sticking to what I know and using a
Power Point presentation. However, I want to make it unique so I would use a
video, possibly an interview of some sort, along with pictures and possibly
read an expert from my research paper. These are just some rough ideas. In
time, I know that I will come up with exactly what I want to do, but until then…any
ideas?
